Since being established in 1950, Centromor has worked as a trading house for the Polish shipbuilding industry. Since that time it exported about 1600 vessels of various types and sizes totaling about 3 350 000 dwt and imported large variety of machineries and appliances for about 850 Polish firms.

Since 1982 Centromor has been a joint stock company. After completion of privatization in 1997 the main shareholders of the company are : Stocznia Szczecinska S.A. State Treasury and Centromor's employees. Following essential economic transformation in Polish economy started in 1989, Centromor successfully adapted itself to free market economy conditions increasing trade on its own account and extending range of services.
