H.M.S. Communications, Inc. Introduces!.
Integrated Internet Service For The Mobile Satellite User
Traditional Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have networks that are not typically designed to address the needs of mobile satellite users. StratosNet was developed with the mobile satellite user in mind. StratosNet is an Internet service optimized for cost-effective communications through multiple mobile satellite networks.
StratosNet advantages include:
Optimization for satellite data speeds of 2.4, 4.8, 9.6 kbps and higher.
Conventional ISPs designed to handle standard terrestrial modem speeds (of 28.8 kbps and higher), Stratos has tailored its service to the mobile satellite user. Depending on the service, StratosNet allows you to transmit data at 2.4 kbps or higher while also gaining from the benefits of compression (see below).
Compression offering up to 60% reduction in bytes transmitted.
The customer comes first with Stratos. Stratos understands that every minute counts for mobile users. Stratos has included compression software as an integral part of our service to help reduce your satellite airtime charges, for both e-mail and web browsing. StratosNet users will typically experience 4:1 data compression for e-mail transactions ó 2:1 for web browsing.
Compatibility with all Stratos circuit-switched services.
StratosNet accommodates all of the circuit-switched services Stratos currently offers. If you have multiple terminals, they can all be configured to access StratosNet services through the same user name and password.
Stratosí unique multi-mode message waiting notification.
Avoid the high costs of dialing in to check if that important message has arrived. StratosNet can be set to automatically send a short message to an alternate messaging device capable of receiving an Internet e-mail such as your handheld satellite phone, Inmarsat-C terminal ( StratosMail) and others.
No unwanted messages in your mailbox.
With StratosNet you are in charge! Your StratosNet user profile can be tailored to determine who can and CANNOT send messages to your mailbox. The StratosNet service can be configured to include or exclude all e-mail addresses or accept/reject all messages from a single domain name or specific e-mail address.
Works with standard Internet applications.
Use your software or ours! While the StratosNet installation CD comes complete with standard Internet applications (including e-mail software, web browser and FTP software), the StratosNet service can also be used with other Internet applications. (See StratosNet User Guide)
Easy online registration.
Registration is a click away! New and existing Stratos satellite service customers can easily register for StratosNet Internet service.
Capability of downloading header information lets you download only messages you want to read*.
Check before you download! StratosNetí s e-mail capability can be configured to operate using the IMAP protocol, which supports remote viewing of subject lines and other header information in a userís mailbox. In this mode, you do not have to download all messages to check your inbox and you can delete messages remotely without viewing them. *See StratosNet User Guide for configuration details.
Pay only for satellite airtime.
Other than the one-time activation fee, there are no recurring fees associated with use of the StratosNet service. You pay only the satellite airtime charges incurred to connect to StratosNet, as itemized on your monthly bill.
24-hour, 7 days-a-week customer care.
You can be assured of professional round-the-clock customer care. Stratos has skilled customer service professionals working around the clock to assist you with any aspect of StratosNet service, including configuration, hardware/software and network issues.
